Notes for migrating UIC existing webmail system to Zimbra email system:
  1. ITSC will create an account for users to access the Zimbra system.
  2. The email user name and password remain unchanged.
  3. Path for accessing the Zimbra system http://mail2.uic.edu.hk.
  4. Two operation modes are available in Zimbra system, Standard(HTML)and Advanced. Advanced mode is strongly recommended especially for users using IE8,Firefox, and Opera browsers.
  5. The email capacity will increase to 1G byte, which includes web disk storage.
  6. ITSC will schedule a date to migrate your data from the existing system to Zimbra. Please pay close attention to ITSC emails.
  7. Data/information to be migrated to Zimbra:
    1. Mails in all system default folders, i.e. Sent, Inbox, Draft.
    2. Self-defined folders with English folder name.
    3. Self-defined contacts.
  8. Data/information will NOT be able to migrate:
    1. All data/documents in the web disk. Users need to manually download the data from web disk and then upload to Zimbra.
    2. Self-defined folder with Chinese folder name. Users need to rename the Chinese folder name to English before migration.
    3. Self-defined contact groups. Users need to recreate them in Zimbra address books.
  9. Once the account in Zimbra is activated, a TWO-WEEK transition period will allow users to send and receive mails from both new and existing system.

关于UIC邮件系统迁移至新系统Zimbra的注意事项:
  1. ITSC将为用户创建新邮件系统Zimbra账号。
  2. 登陆的账号及密码与旧系统相同。
  3. 新邮件系统的访问网址为:http://mail2.uic.edu.hk
  4. 新系统分为标准(HTML)和高级两种模式。如果选择高级模式登录,推荐使用IE8,Firefox,Opera等浏览器。
  5. 新邮件系统的邮箱容量将扩大为1 G(含网络磁盘的容量)。
  6. ITSC将安排时间把用户的数据迁移至新邮件系统Zimbra。具体时间请密切留意ITSC的邮件通知。
  7. 以下数据/信息将自动迁移至Zimbra:
    1. 旧系统的所有默认文件夹(如Inbox,Sent, Draft等);
    2. 以英文命名的自建文件夹;
    3. 自建联系人。
  8. 以下数据/信息将无法自动迁移至Zimbra:
    1. 网络磁盘的内容。用户必须手动地将旧系统网络磁盘的内容下载后,再上传至新邮件系统的网络磁盘上。
    2. 以中文命名的自定义文件夹。用户需要在系统迁移前,用英文重新命名文件夹。
    3. 自建联系群。用户需自行在新系统中重新建立。
  9. Zimbra账号一旦创建后,用户将有为期二周的过渡期。在这段时间内,用户可以通过新旧系统收发邮件。
